Feeling Christmas-y!

Its a cool rainy November day - which is better then a cold snowy day in November for Edmonton!
Sean is away travelling with David so I stayed in my Studio all day and played with scrappy stuff.

Here are the two sets of photos that came off the "Pile to Scrap" today :)

As a member of Mercy Tiaras 27daychallenge page on Facebook I try to make time to play along. Here is my layout for her November challenge,
2 photos, layout must have texture,
use the color purple and showcase something funny or silly.
A little tough to use purple in a Christmas layout but I did have an old Basic Grey collection called "Eskimo Kisses" and some Karen Foster Paper that included a deep purple in my stash.

This morning I had also been working on our company
2017 Calendar & this years Christmas card photo selections.
We had so much fun with AMS "Elf on the Shelf" Holly Day last Christmas that I had to do a layout with two of my favourite photos that I posted during her adventures with our staff last December.
Sean had to fly to Inuvik for a couple days so he took her with him!
Here are two of his photos,
one will be used for our company Christmas Card and the other for the month of December.

This layout was inspired by the November Sketch Challenge at Stuck Sketches

Hope you are getting some scrappy time this weekend!

Love Laura's sketches this month at Stuck Sketches
Here are my layouts with the Oct 15th Sketch Challenge that she posted.
I love how they both turned out!

July Memories in October

It feels like we skipped Fall and moved from Summer to early Winter! It also feels like the perfect time to work with those Summer photos while the details are still fresh so that I don't struggle with the journaling. Here are a couple that I have finished of late...

I used the October 1 Stuck?! Sketches  challenge for this layout.
At first I thought I would struggle with the sketch but I am so pleased with how it turned out!

And one more Fun July Memory!

I did struggle at first with this layout.
I really wanted to use the drink coasters that I saved
from our visit to the Brewery Restaurant.
After walking away from it a couple nights
it eventually came together...
I am also pleased with the finished layout.

FB Love Your Spouse Challenge

Last weekend one of my Hockey Mom friends challenged me on Facebook to do the "Love Your Spouse" Challenge. I managed to post 3 of the 7 challenge photos but then my work week went into overdrive. Glad that work week is behind me! I'm very proud of the work that was done by our team despite the very very long hours that were put in! Sean decided to help me out and did post one photo of us for me (he is still a hopeless romantic every once in awhile)... so I was short 3 photos for the challenge. This weekend I cocooned in the Studio on Saturday night and all day Sunday...
I made 2 layouts with the FB challenge in mind!

The first layout came together quickly, the Stuck Sketches September 1 challenge with some very old paper collections from Fancy Pants and Basic Grey.

This layout has been laying on the pile to scrap for way too long!
So glad to get this one finished :)

A weekend working with sketches!

I'm trying to keep up with the Creative Scrapbooker Monthly Sketchy Challenge but there doesn't seem to be any crafting hours in my days of late!
Since I had the house to myself this weekend I was able to cocoon a little in the studio...

Here is a couple of the layouts that I completed!

Yesterday as I was packing up my layouts that were chosen for the Winter Issue of Creative Scrapbooker,
I decided to send Jackie and her team at CS a note of thanks.
This week Jackie has been posting a few videos with sneak peeks of all the layouts she is receiving for the Winter Issue..
I thought it might be fun to send her something she wasn't expecting besides my layouts!
I decided to make a photocopy of each of my layouts, cards and published photos starting with the Winter 2011 Issue.
As I poured over 5 years of CS issues I realized how fortunate I have been to have a little part in each of these magazines.
I spent the entire evening flipping thru those issues, looking at all the little flags and post it notes that I still have on many pages and it really inspired me to spend the next few nights in the studio!
Jackie, you also inspired me to do my own little sneak peek video and this is my first video ever on my blog!

More Sketches and some Inspiration from Mercy Tiara!

This weekend I managed to enjoy quite a bit of Studio time, I managed to get 3 layouts done!

The first was this month's Creative Scrapbooker's June Sketchy Challenge
I have had these photos sitting on the "Pile to Scrap" along with the event tickets and the Silent Auction Brochure from the event. I turned the sketch so that the 3 photos were running across the lower half of the page in stead of vertically. Again this was a layout that really didn't require many embellishments.

Next I was inspired to use the June 2016 sketch on Creative Scrappers Blog
I started with placing the photos and tickets on the text patterned paper, then decided to include some Mixed media, the photos ended up in a different spot and the layout ended up being on an angle.
I was very pleased with this layout!

The last Layout was really inspired by a “Start Small” prompt from Find Your Mojo With Mercy Tiara, which is a series of You Tube videos over on the Scrapbook and Cards Today channel.
She also has a Facebook Group that inspires me everyday!
This month's FB Group Challenge is to "Express Yourself", scrapbook a photo of yourself and journal about your own thoughts and feelings rather than an event.
So with both of those in mind I made this layout.

Victoria Long Weekend - Scrap Much?

Its been a cold rainy long weekend which we certainly need in Alberta!
Well maybe not the cold part... just the rain!
Anyways, I have spent some time hiding away in the studio playing with some of the pictures that I had printed to scrap with during NSD weekend. Here are a few of the May challenges that I completed with inspiration from Scrap Much?

The first is a combination of the Scrap Much? May colour challenge
and the Stuck?! Sketches May Challenge

I also spent some time working on a few pages
for the Winter Issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine

Now I know this isn't a very "Wintery" Page but it is
a page using Minimal Supplies, with Mostly Papers, a clothing tag, some sewing
and a free NSD Digital Word Strip File from Crafty Jen Schow
I created this fun layout with some pictures from Easter 2016.

And the last layout for the weekend was taken off the "pile to scrap", Shimelle's weekly challenge this week was scrapbook with square photos, I think when I developed these I intended on cutting them all apart and place them in a strip but when I reached for them today I decided to leave them intact. A fond family memory from Christmas Vacation in Costa Rica a couple years ago... I just realized that I was pretty focused on scrapbooking photos of trips to CR!

InterNational Scrapbooking Day

I hope everyone enjoyed some scrapbooking time last weekend to celebrate InterNational Scrapbook Day. I miss the days when a group of friends would run away for 3 or 4 days to Scrapbook at Rustic Ridge Ranch and celebrate National Scrapbook Day together for a whole weekend!

This year I managed to find some time to hide away in my studio on Saturday night and Sunday morning as I had the house to myself for a couple nights.

I tried to participate in a few INSD challenges with the ladies on Mercy Tiaras FB Scrapbook Group. Its a great group a scrappy people sharing what they love to create & document and its lead by Tracy Banks - who has an awesome youtube channel and is inspiring not only as a scrapper, but a mom, friend and therapist!

Here are a couple of layouts that I completed.

Sketch Challenge - Twist and Sketch
Modify the format of the sketch - for instance make an 8.5X11 layout, or even a card. OR flip the sketch on its side, either side, or upside down even. But never fear, you can stick to the sketch as well!

 Create your own Background Challenge
I dug into my scrap box and pulled out all the earth tone pieces, I put them together to form a patterned paper background for the photos to be displayed on. It made a good dent in all those little pieces that I keep for cards and the occasional layout. I must try this again, it also eliminated the need for a lot of embellishments on the page.
I used lots of letter stickers instead and typed out my journalling.

Lucky Me! This one will be in the next issue of Creative Scrapbooker!

ThrowBack Mini Album - Easter 2008

Today I completed a little mini album with the help of an old "pin" kept in my "Mini Album Inspiration" folder on Pinterest. It is actually a Canadian Scrapbooker Blog Post from last fall.

I tried to be as diligent as Cathy... grabbed these 2008 Easter Photos from the pile to scrap and worked on this little album last night with her "I need to go to bed" attitude... and guess what - it worked!

Shimelle's Online Scrapbooking Weekend!

Last Weekend Shimelle Hosted an Online Scrapbooking Weekend which I could only participate in for a few hours the first day as we were travelling for work.
With the little bit of time I had on the first day I did work on a Monochromatic Layout Challenge. I have never tried to do this intentionally before and decided to scrap a photo of me and the boys that has been on "the pile to scrap" since early 2013. It is a photo of the boys and I playing a new card game on Christmas Day while we were spending Christmas in Costa Rica with Sean's parents. We generally try to get the kids to play more board and card games when we are travelling so that they unplug from their devices and enjoy some quality time together. That Christmas David and I picked out two new smaller travelling card games that we all really still enjoy playing! Golf and Cover Your Assets, great games for teens.
Anyways, back to scrapbooking :) here is my layout for the Monochromatic Challenge, I tried to stick to similar shades of green with a little grey and cream. Really pleased with how this turned out and finally used up the piece of scalloped Websters Pages Paper that I have had for about 5 years.

Since Shimelle kept the challenges open for a week I was able to work on a few more when we got back the following weekend. While we were gone we escaped to the hills and enjoyed a day of skiing at Sunshine Village, one of the challenges included a map so using the map of the ski hill and my lift ticket along with two Selfie Photos, which also happened to be another challenge I completed this layout.

** This one appears in the Winter 2016/2017 Issue of Creative Scrapbooker!"

Here is my layout for the Circles Challenge.
I haven't used my old Creative Memories Cutting System in forever!
I used up some favourite little scraps of Basic Grey and
Fancy Pants Papers with some old Basic Grey blooms and stickers.

** This one appears in the Winter 2016/2017 Issue of Creative Scrapbooker!"

The last challenge that I did was with "Frames". I have had these Jillibean Soup Placemats (Frames) in my stash for a few years, inspired by Shimelle's Latest Post I scrap lifted her guest's layout and completed this final page for the Online Scrapbooking Weekend of Challenges!
