Sketchy Thursday Challenge

Here is my take on this weeks sketch!

This Challenge and the Challenge to use mists on Cocoa Daisy got me to open a box of "Glimmer Screens" by Tattered Angels that I have had sitting on the shelf in my Scrapbook Room, unopened, for FOUR years!

Enjoying a holiday at home... in the loft!

I have been enjoying some "time off" between jobs. It has been nice to catch up on a few things around the house but also do some scrapbooking!

Here are some of my layouts that I have done while on my "time off"!

A-maze-ing LO for Sketchy Thursdays

This was a perfect sketch for me to get this batch of photo's into the 2009 album!

Except I turned this into a 2 page layout! And used lots of Cocoa Daisy kit scraps on this layout!

Digging in My BG pile!

I am sure that many of you, like me, have stashes of your favorite paper companies collections. One of my favorites to collect is Basic Grey. I have still have some of my first collection that I bought of BG, Sub Lime.
These papers worked perfectly for Liam & Lena's Junior High Graduation Portraits. They were done as separate layouts, but because they will be in the album facing each other I wanted them to compliment each other and not compete with each other.... like children usually do :)
Even though Liam & Lena are only 10 days apart, Liam graduated from Junior High completing Grade 9 and because Lena resides with her mother in another province, she completed Grade 8.

I can't believe they are both going to High School in September!

As I started to work on Lena's I decided to use the Cocoa Daisy Sketch challenge for July.

I also was inspired this morning by this Card sketch posted on I used up some of the scraps that I have left from the pages!

Anniversary Card

Our parents are getting older, so are our friends parents.... a new milestones are celebrated. Sheldon's parents celebrated their 49th wedding Anniversary last week. We were invited to a dinner celebration on Sunday night and were pleased that Mr & Mrs "J" shared many stories with us from when they were courting as well as the story of their wedding day, it was a very enjoyable evening!

On Sunday morning I decided that it was time to make this card that had been floating around in my head since I stopped my mother from throwing out a couple of decks of cards that she and dad wore out last Spring. Giving this card to Mr & Mrs "J" also inspired us to have a card game with Sheldon & Sara after Mr & Mrs "J" headed home for the evening... us girls kicked the boys butts!!!

I also decided to make my parents a card for their upcoming 47th Wedding Anniversary and one for Sean.... after he forgets about this one since he saw it! They were great cards for using up scraps and I am loving the Martha Butterfly Punch!

Sketchy Thursdays - Fast!

Well I got home early today and decided that I best sit down at the computer and work on my course that I have been doing... but after getting distracted by my email and a few blogs that I follow, I realized it was Thursday and there would be a new sketch posted. Well I instantly knew that some pictures that I had in my photo box, would be perfect for this sketch. For some reason we don't take very many vertical shots, but  I knew these would work for this sketch since I had just looked at them the other day.

Off to grab those photos I went, grabbed some Cardstock, glimmer mists, a few leftovers from other "fishing" layouts and this layout came together in an hour! Thanks for the great sketch today!

I am trying to get in the habit of either working on something new and recent or if I go digging into the catch up pile, I am trying to scrap something that is from the same month or holiday weekend. Also, since my husband has been away working all month I have had more time to lock myself away in my Scrapbook Room!

Scraplift - Sisters Layout

So a few weeks ago, Cocoa Daisy had a Spring Online Crop. I completed one layout that worked for 2 challenges. I decided to hop over to a few of the ladies blogs that entered the same Challenges.

Wow. Amber your talent is amazing.... I LOVE your blog... and your projects are Beautiful.
When I saw you "Sisters" page I instantly knew that a photo I took on my Blackberry, that I have been using as my sisters contact photo, had to be scrapbooked.

Sketchy Thursday 6.2 Challenge

This week I decided to post my first sketch challenge with "Sketchy Thursdays".

I have been wanting to journal this single shot of the view from the fire on Reed Lake for quite some time. I dug out some old Sandylion Paper that I have been hoarding for a few years! It was "cheery" and fun to work with, dug into my scrap box for some bits and pieces of leftover stickers and chipboard.

Well better get to hemming Liam's new dress pants for his Grade 9 Farewell Celebration at the Church & School on Wed! How is it that he will be going to High School this Fall!

Cocoa Daisy Spring Crop

I have to admit that I was a little sad when I read that there was an online crop with so many exciting Challenges as we were away with friends for the weekend and I wouldn't be in my scrapbook room....

but to my surprise the DT gave a week to submit the Challenge's. Yeah! I was still able to participate. I decided to do a layout with Liam's Minor Hockey Week Photos because they would work with the "Sketchy" challenge sketch. To my surprise, as I was journalling I discovered that they also could be entered in the "One Night in Bangkok" Challenge!

Family Frame Art

I bought this frame 2 years ago at Pier One.
it has always been easy to change it as the season's change.
I keep all the previous groupings of pictures in a box so that
if i'm short on time I can just change it up with last years
selections for that season.
This weekend I was working on many "spring cleaning"
items in my scrapbook room and made a new set with memories
from Family Summer Vacations we have had over the last few years.

National Scrapbooking Day

So today I decided to retreat in my "playroom" for as long as possible :) which meant getting up early before anyone else!
During my "inspiration warmup" I stumbled across this website for the first time... will certainly be a regular stop for me now.....  with some scraps that I had from discontinued SU Designer Series Paper and $1 Store butterflies I was inspired to make these beautiful cards.... cant wait to have a card class with my gal pals!

A Royal Challenge

I am just starting to actually try sketch and other challenges on my favorite websites. This process is getting me to dig out some photographs that I have been wanting to get scrapped and journaled for quite some time. This is one of my favorite photo's from our wedding, I am in the midst of trying to get a wall of framed filled for the stairway walls coming up to my scrapbook room. I have had this photo and frame sitting on the floor for months!
Finally it is done and I can get it hung on the wall! I used papers & chipboard from Cocoa Daisy's April kit, a few old stickers and I was inspired to complete it for Cocoa Daisy's "A Royal Challenge".
